SEWING VOLUNTEER SEW & GROW

 

DESCRIPTION

Sew & Grow is a course designed to reach women from migrant and refugee background with complex needs. Participants include mothers and carers looking for flexible employment or small business opportunities to work around their schedules or to find a space to grow connections and confidence. The course supports learners to boost their confidence in both English language and sewing skills, expand their understanding of what opportunities exist and provides practical outcomes through a range of sewing projects. Sessions are held 9.30am to 12.30pm on Tuesdays.

Skills, experience, attributes and requirements

Sewing skills

Mentoring ability including patience and good communication skills 

An understanding of, and empathy with, people from diverse backgrounds

Willingness and capacity to work as part of a team
